MIDC’s sole objective is setting up this industrial park was to take the lead in promoting the new foreign trade policy of the Union Govt. To achieve this objective, it was imperative that a trade complex of international standards be provided to cater to the needs of the foreign trader. The design for the industrial park was completely process based with factors such as shape and angle of the site, views towards the south-east geometrical axis, movement pattern and climatological concerns providing the starting points. The discussion of spaces on the basis of the area programme and geometry led to the formation of a strong axial concept. Thus, two super imposing axes orchestrated the whole entity.
