Government Medical College, J&K

The site is carefully designed taking into consideration the topography of the site. All buildings on the site are stepped according to the contours for minimum excavation during construction. Academic and administrative buildings are located at the center of the site which makes it very easily accessible from all residential buildings. The design emphasizes on a strong N-S and E-S axis which runs through the buildings. One of the main N-S axis ends in a ghat like plaza to let students enjoy the beautiful cliff and the river adjoining the site. Play courts have been placed strategically so that all students have immediate and easy access.

Considering that the site experiences cold climate, we have designed covered corridors from all hostels and all faculty residences connecting all the buildings. This will enable anyone to travel from any building to any other building without coming out in the open.
